We can help you know what is named what and what is placed where. So, allow us to help you find your magic wand and turn your table into pure elegance like a pro. Let’s go through the protocol together…

FORKS

As the above illustration shows, the forks are placed on the left side of the plate – starting with the Table Fork and then the Fish Fork.

KNIVES

The knives are then placed on the right side of the plate – with the Table Knife first then the Fish Knife, the sharp edge must always face towards the plate. The Table Spoon is for soup and is positioned next to the knives.

Horizontally above the plate is the Fruit Fork and Fruit Spoon, with the handle of the fork towards the left and of the spoon towards the right. The fruit cutlery may be combined by a Dessert Fork to complement the desserts.

GLASSES

The glasses are positioned slightly to the right of the plate, at about the same height as the knife. There should be at least two glasses – a larger one for water and, to its right, a smaller one for wine. If more than one wine is to be served during the meal, the number of glasses increases, always being positioned to the right of the water glass.
